Brisbane 1974 Flood Marker

In 1974, Brisbane experienced one of the worst floods in history. On Australia Day, January 29th cyclone Wanda came down from North Queensland and turned into a rain depression, causing flood levels to rise to the highest levels. 14 people lost their lives, 700 houses were completely destroyed and more than 5,000 people were left homeless.
This flood marker is the the Botanical Garden in the city.

  4. Cyclones, hurricanes, whatever they are called, are miserable and so destructive. We've lived through a number of them in Texas and Florida. Would prefer not to do it again!
