    Was it ever fired in earnest? Is this the treasury that is also a casino - I always have to smile when I think of these two words in the same breath!

    Yes, Paul, it's the hotel (belonging to) and next to the Treasury Casino. Not sure where the gun came from.

    I think the Napoleonic wars or maybe Crimea or the US Civil War?
    I think way back when the Russian Tsars had territorial ambitions for the Pacific, these types of guns were placed to deter a Russian fleet. Nothing of course happened. February 1904 – 5 September 1905! The Japanese Navy put a stop to the Tsar's ambitions.
