At South Bank Parklands between the Playhouse and the Ferry stop are these two posts in the road, presumably stopping vehicular access. I couldn't quite work out what they represent and I couldn't find any explanation anywhere. They have patterns and inserts of various descriptions. Mybe someone in Brisbane can fill us in of what they represent.

It's great to see the necessary (obstructing vehicular access) combined with the aesthetic. But from time to time one wishes for some info - maybe your friendly City Council will help?
ReplyDeleteI like them. Certainly not your usual bollard.

"arty bollards" sounds like a joke euphemism.
ReplyDeleteI do like them.
Great. They are definitely more interesting than bollards from cold steel or boring concrete.
ReplyDeleteI think the installation deals with the subject of immigration and multi-culturalism. There's a sandstone suitcase situated just left of the bollards.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Brisbane for years, although I've vacationed in Noosa and Nambucca since then and we still have a useless time-share in Burleigh Heads.I think anywhere on the east coast is gorgeous. We're in downmarket Newcastle but we absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteSo much to look at there. I like them!
