I have shown her before from different angles, she is the Kookaburra Queen, a floating restaurant boat cruising up and down the Brisbane River. The reason I am showing her again is because tomorrow I am going to show you the captain, a real character.

I always wonder how come some people have what appear to be idyllic jobs. how did they get to be a riverboat captain in Brissie etc. did they just stumble into that way of life. i look forward to tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteVery civilized.
ReplyDeleteHi Bill!
ReplyDeleteI really like the word, Kookaburra! I'm not sure why, but it resonates, like a good song. I also love paddle-wheeler river boats and eccentric captains. What fun to ride this up and down the river while eating a delicious dinner!
I'll look forward to seeing what the capitan looks like!
Cool birds they are. And this old boat looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteAvoid Kookaburra River Queen at all costs, I planned and book weeks in advance to celebrate a 30th Birthday Party on the Kookaburra Queen, only hours before the cruise I received a phone call to say the cruise was cancelled due to lack of numbers. When making a booking over the phone I was not advised that a cruise can be cancelled due to lack of numbers, I can understand mechanical problems or weather conditions. Cancelling the cruise ruin the birthday celebration and romantic night. So you plan to celebrate something special DO NOT do it on the Kookaburra Queen.
ReplyDeleteI had enjoyable cruise on the Kookaburra Queen back in 1997. However, it was almost spoiled by the obnoxious manner of the host, a Rumplestiltskin-like individual in both his stature and attitude.
