On the River

Living on the river has become very popular over the last few years, so much so that a lot of houses have been replaced with apartment blocks. These here are at Hawthorne across the river from New Farm.
Some of our friends have bought units on the river with the intention of retiring there but after listening to them, it is not all that's cracked up to be, especially with night time noise.

  1. Nice shot. Auckland's City has been invaded by apartment blocks too, over the last two decades or so. But if you live in the hustle and bustle - you also get the side effects, and there have been court battles over decibels from night spots...

  2. Where does the noise come from?
Remember the Brisbane flood? It might rain again like that. Better buy an apartment several floors up.

  3. As I was reading I thought you were going to say people bought house boats. I think I would rather live on a house boat than in an apartment. Nice view though.

  4. Nothing is better than a quarter acres section where you can grow your flowers and veg.

To Bruce asking where the noise comes from, I lived in Singapore for 16 years, my friends who lived in these blocks had neighbours who almsot fought.

  5. I haven't been to Brisbane in quite a while. That's certainly a change of scenery for the river.
